Statement on 89th anniversary of Iraqi Army praises soldiers; stresses need for accountable government

"As we celebrate the 89th anniversary of the foundation of the Iraqi Army, all Iraqis should show their appreciation for the brave, heroic soldiers who risk their lives every day to protect the sovereignty and stability of our great country.
Since the collapse of Saddam Hussein's regime, the Iraqi Army has made a tremendous effort to restore security for all Iraqis.
With the full support and leadership of a new, accountable government after the forthcoming election, they will see even greater success in their critical mission of defending our nation, her people and creating a stable country to the benefit of all the citizens of Iraq."
