Ayad Jamal Aldin to Al-Hayat: Iraq’s Sectarians want to "eradicate people"
Monday, 08 February 2010 18:22
Jamal al-Din established ((Ahrar)) party after his withdrawal from Allawi's list to participate in the forthcoming elections, he believes that some in Iraq want to eliminate all the people, which was forced to belong to the Baath Party, adding that the Iranian influence in Iraq is compounded by Iraqis and that some Iraqi forces see that the path to Paradise passes through the gate of « jurisprudent ruler ».
Here is the text of the interview:
> How do you see the measures of accountability and justice law?
- There are articles of the Constitution provides the de-Baathification in thought, content and organization, which is considered a problematic matter and some call to change them as they are transitional articles, which expires with the ended term and the next term, the Constitution has the current government being committed to hold the constitutional amendments. Here we approach the end of the of the government era without making any amendments or other benefits such as the general census.
But the final outcome is that the Justice and Accountability Law was approved by the Parliament on the basis of no doubted clear constitutional articles, at the time of the Constitution provides that officials with special ranks to chair public bodies should be appointed after having the parliament approval but what is happening on this issue today is playing around the Constitution and laws.
What is happening now is to exploit and politicize the law in political playoffs, use of religion in politics is a disaster for the religion and politics as well as using the law as a stick of policy is also a disaster for law and policy together.
Among the most prominent signs of the law politicization is that a known politician heads the accountability and justice commission which is a sensitive body that affects the fate of a lot of people at a time, however, must be chaired by moderate and neutral figures who have no conflicts with any of the parties.
As for the Baathists penetration, all Iraqis know that «the Baath» ruled Iraq for 35, it is a totalitarian party that did not allow to a student, worker or employee to have a job or exercise his routine life without joining the party and no one could escape of this fact, including illiterate elderly people, who were engaged in the literacy campaign, do some want to eradicate all the people? Or shall we import new people?.
Who did impose security in the infected areas called by the media the Sunni Triangle? Was the security imposed by the Awakening sons or not? Were many of their leaders Baathists or not? even members of the current security institutions are former members of police and army, were the security institutions transformed to Baathist ? I think they are the sons of the country, have served their homeland and many were martyred in order to impose security in the lean years.
These are Iraqi people and any person who does not like this fact, let him leave Iraq.
> And the national reconciliation?
- We must first determine the field of the conflict and the opponents, there is a vision to resolve the conflict says: The conflict in Iraq is between the social components in the country, Arab Sunni and Shiite and Kurds, those who have this vision are the creators of the sectarian project dealing with social components as political ones and when they try to hold a national reconciliation, they bring Sunni and Shiite clerics to shake hands, but this argument is incorrect and invalid. There are two groups in Iraq, the first one lost power by the U.S. tank (Baath Party), and the second one received power by this tank and they are the creators of the current sectarian project. The conflict is between these two groups and not between Sunni and Shiite or Arabs and Kurds.
> Then who will protect the political process?
- We need to legislate laws in the Parliament in order to fortify the political process, improve the performance of the democratic process and filling the gaps that let overseas project goes through Iraq, first priority of such projects is the law of organizing parties, Parliament has to provide funding for parties according the number of party representatives in Parliament in order not to have any party be in need of funds from this side or that as it has interior immunity.
> What is the map of foreign influence in Iraq?
- The most obvious foreign influence in Iraq is the Iranian, unfortunately this applies by Iraqis and Iraqi political forces that see the path to Paradise passes through the gate of the Jurisprudent ruler and obey him, there is a political force believes that happiness of Iraqis comes by obeying the jurisprudent ruler, regardless of political limits and content of the national state, they see that the borders between countries are artificial and imposed by colonialism, and Islam, is one country governed by the caliph or the jurisprudent ruler, this matter is found in Iraq, and it is the most important feature of the Iranian influence.
> Does this mean a decline in U.S. influence?
- The security agreement between Iraq and the U.S. provides America’s commitment to assist Iraq in building the political and democratic process, and we realize that there is a living people in Iraq who do not accept the control of any State. America will withdraw from Iraq to focus its political, military and diplomatic efforts against Iran as it is the only country in the region outside of the U.S. circle and the conflict now is taking place between Washington and Tehran.
> Who will probably win among these conflicting parties on the land of Iraq?
- Tehran has powerful tools and America does as well.
> As the region, who will win?
- Those who have ideological logic everywhere and anytime think that only ideology is enough to defeat their opponents. Iran claims interests in the region and seek to protect them by old fashion American aircrafts and the United States claims the same interests and defend them by Tomahawk missiles and modern style aircrafts but slogans did not defeat tanks along the range, if Iran wants to defeat America, it has to manufacture aircraft carriers, missiles equivalent to Tomahawk and massive nuclear arsenal to stay alive and defend its interests.
> How do you see the map of the new government after the next election?
- There will be a coalition government with an obvious decline in religious discourse, progress to the national discourse and more keeping away from the Iranian project.
> Who would prevail?
- The parliamentary system always produces coalition governments as it is the case in Italy, away from hegemony.
