Yousef al-Khairallah answers press questions

A leading member of the Ahrar Party, Yousef al-Khairallah, discusses national reconciliation, foreign policy and domestic affairs in a short press interview.

Read the questions, and his responses below:

Q1: We always hear about national reconciliation .. What is the Ahrar Party's view on national reconciliation?

A: What is said by the government now on national reconciliation is only slogans free of the real substance for national reconciliation and what was promoted in media was only conferences, banquets and meetings between people have no disagreements or rivalry.

Ahrar looks at genuine national reconciliation based on the principle of stopping the shedding of Iraqi blood between the warring parties and that means, between those who were brought to power on an American tank and others who were ousted from power by an American tank. What is required from the current politicians is courage, wisdom, vision, high level of responsibility and benefit from the lessons and experiences of other predecessors politicians in other countries and work on stop shedding Iraqi blood and sit at the negotiating table but not excluding the other party.

Q2: If you came to power .. what will you do for the Iraqi people?

A: The highest qualities of a politician are honesty with others and self-confidence with the people who elected him. We have high confidence that we will achieve all of the promises offered in our political program if we are helped to reach to the power. The most important promises we make to the people are providing one million jobs for the unemployed, ending the electricity problem within two years, achieving high marks in solving the problem of housing and services and security. We also call for reconstruction after the process of genuine national reconciliation, as we cannot have security without reconciliation, and no reconstruction without security.

Q3: What is your policy with neighboring countries?

A: Ahrar adopts in its foreign policy with the countries of the world, and in particular with neighboring countries, the principle of mutual respect and common interests and moves away from disputes and interference in the internal affairs. We propose dealing with these countries as they deal with us.

Iraq was not and will not become a small village for one party or another or to this country or another. Neighboring countries must abide by this in the new, independent and democratic Iraq. The history of Iraq shows that it has always the lead role in the region and the world .. it represents a pole of launching relations ... between all countries in the world.
